There are always Sinatra tributes in Vegas, but few are as unique, artistic and cool as SINATRA Dance With Me at the Encore. The legendary crooner and his Rat Pack gang performed (and partied) in Sin City so often that they came to define Vegas cool, and the show does an amazing job of capturing the spirit of Ol Blue Eyes and his music.
The story of four couples falling in and out of love in a swinging nightclub (the likes of which Frank would have felt right at home in) is told through iconic Sinatra songs and amazingly choreographed dance routines. Frank’s immortal voice is the only one you’ll hear through the entire production, which doesn’t use dialogue to tell its story of love and seduction. Classic Sinatra songs performed in the show include “My Way,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and “That’s Life,” and Frank’s voice from original recordings is backed by a live, 17 piece big band.
The dances were created by choreography genius Twyla Tharp, who has a long history with Ol’ Blue Eyes material. In the ’70s, she performed “Once More Frank” with legendary ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. After that she went on to create “Nine Sinatra Songs,” “Sinatra Suite” and, most recently, “Fly Me To The Moon,” which had a highly acclaimed run on Broadway.
Tharp’s Sinatra show in Vegas may be her most successful collaboration with the crooner’s material, and it has become one of the hottest shows in Vegas despite Sin City’s abundance of tributes to Ol’ Blue Eyes and The Rat Pack. This sexy and stunning production makes Sinatra tunes relevant again and reminds you why the Chairman of the Board defined cool back in his day.
