Rock of Ages, the head-banging smash hit jukebox musical about love, fame, and rock n’ roll on the Sunset Strip in the 1980’s has arrived onstage at The Rio in Las Vegas, bringing its loving celebration of debauchery and excess to the perfect host city.
Las Vegas is transformed into The Sunset Strip in this celebration of 80’s hair metal and arena rock, which tells the story of young lovers with rock star dreams working at the mythological Bourbon Room as they cross paths with iconic superstar Stacee Jaxx, all while the mayor’s wife and her moralistic minions try to shut down the famously debaucherous rock club.
The engaging story is punctuated with forceful performances of some of the most popular rock songs from the 1980’s, as the cast belts out rousing versions of smash hits like Journey’s “Any Way You Want It,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City,” Starship’s “We Built This City,” Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive,” Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock N’ Roll,” Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again,” and The Scorpion’s “Rock You Like A Hurricane,” as well as ballads that will have you waving your lighter in the air like Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is,” REO Speedwagon’s “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” and Poison’s “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” A smoking house band and state of the art sound system make this show feel like a rock concert as much as a Broadway musical.
The Tony nominated, international smash-hit jukebox musical brings the big hair, outrageous antics, and unforgettable music of the 1980’s Sunset Strip Scene to The Rio as Rock of Ages triumphantly invades Las Vegas. After all, this is the show that’s been seen by millions of faces… and rocked them all.
