Magician Rick Thomas is a master illusionist and showman, and his value packed show at the Saxe Theater in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood features disappearing jungle cats, levitating assistants and even some expertly performed ballroom dancing. Few Vegas shows feature a star as multi-talented as this prolific illusionist.
Part of the charm comes from the luxury of seeing live, orange Siberian and white Bengal tigers on stage and incorporated into the illusionist’s acts. Thomas says the tigers begin training for their lives in the spotlight when they are about 8 weeks old, and that they travel from gig to gig in a 22 foot “Catilac” trailer.
When they arrive on stage, looking regal and ready to perform, you’ll be stunned when they magically swap places with one of Thomas’s assistants in one of the best transformation illusions performed on The Strip.
This magician is a full package entertainer; he’s mastered ballroom dance and incorporates both ballroom and swing numbers into the show. If you’re looking for a really great Las Vegas magic show, you’ll get a lot more than you bargained for when you check out this amazing magic show. He dances, levitates objects and people while dancing, transforms exotic birds into exotic women, then transforms the exotic women into exotic big cats… and dances some more.
The dancing isn’t all grounded though. One of the major components of the show is an air dance. Think of a Cirque du Soleil aerialist but without the silk ropes, trapeze or walking wire—this is a magic show after all—which will leave you wondering how on earth Thomas managed to levitate his assistant and make her dance 20 feet or so above the stage without any visible platforms, wires or other supporting devices.
Thomas has been named “Stage Magician of the Year” at the World Magic Awards as well as the “Best Magician in Vegas Period!” by Millionaire Magazine. Plus, your kids will learn a bit about wildlife and tiger preservation issues and the whole family will enjoy the seamless blend of choreography, music and magic. Thomas’s magic act truly is a crowd pleaser with a little something for everyone. It’s one of the best grand illusion performances on The Strip.
