Rock 'n' roll legend Sammy Hager's Cabo Wabo Cantina in The Miracle Mile Shops at The Planet Hollywood Resort is as fun, energetic and head-bangingly awesome as The Red Rocker's music. It's more than a Mexican restaurant... it's a chance to party like a rock star.
With a relaxed vibe modeled after the beach town of Cabo San Lucas, the 15,00 square foot multi-level venue features a patio with great views of The Strip, a stocked tequila bar, a live music venue and a dining room.
The menu features a great selection of Mexican favorites like fajitas, Fish Tacos, Sammy's Tequila Shrimp, Carne Asada and Baja BBQ Baby Back Ribs. If you're feeling up to the challenge, take on the I Can't Drive $55 Nachos, a massive 8 pound platter that is yours free... if you can finish it. Be warned, nobody has been able to finish the monster nacho platter alone.
The restaurant offers a great selection of Mexican brunch items on weekends, like Huevos Rancheros, the Cabo Wabo Omelet and the Big Breakfast Burrito... which lives up to its name in its mass and girth. A fun and energetic live Mariachi band will entertain you as you eat during the restaurant's popular brunch, which runs seasonally from 9:30 in the afternoon to 3:30 in the afternoon.
The food is great, but this place is all about the tequila. More than 60 varieties of tequila are available at the bar, including Hagar's signature Cabo Wabo brand. Try the restaurant's signature Waborita or any of their other concoctions in the souvenir guitar cup, which holds a whopping 100 ounces of frozen cocktail and plays five famous Hagar songs.
The restaurant's live music venue is a terrific place to see local and touring rock acts as well, and you never know who will drop in for a surprise set. Hagar himself has been known to get onstage for an impromptu jam session from time to time.
