The Hoover Dam is considered to be one of the coolest feats in engineering. Not only has it appeared in countless movies (remember Bumblebee propelling down it in the first Transformers film?), but it’s also a historic landmark for this country. There’s a few ways to experience it and one of the best choices is Gray Line Tour’s Hoover Dam Lake Mead Cruise. Not only will you be taken on a VIP Government Guided Tour of the interior of the dam, but you’ll also experience it from the water’s view on a super-cool paddle wheel boat.
The day starts with a complimentary pick up (from most hotels in Downtown and The Strip) and then you’ll board one of their luxury motor coaches from the Gray Line Terminal. Aboard the air-conditioned bus with super large windows, you’ll find comfortable seating that reclines, as well as a restroom. The tour guide will give you lots of details about the surrounding area making it an interesting ride through the scenic Nevada landscape.
Once you arrive at Lake Mead, you’ll board the Desert Princess, which is reminiscent of a “Mississippi-style” paddle wheeler, the perfect way to cruise the lake. The boat ride lasts about an hour and a half and can be enjoyed on three different decks.
At the Hoover Dam, there’s plenty of time after the guided tour to visit the recently reopened Visitor’s Center and gift shop. On the trip, you’ll also be treated to a visit to Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory and a photo op at the Tillman / O’ Callaghan Bridge. From start to finish, the day trip lasts about 8 hours with a return around 5:30 pm so you can still get some discount show tickets from Tix4Tonight.com that night!
