Fitz of Laughter
Funnyman Kevin Burke (who also stars in the hilarious one-man show "Defending the Caveman" at Harrah's) headlines one of the most unique comedy shows in Las Vegas. To begin with, the show starts at 9:13 every night (which means he has the "number one rated 9:13 show in the world," jokes the comic), but the strange start-time is just the first of the show's many quirks.
The hardworking comedian shows off three different types of comedy: broad physical humor, witty observational standup and, most unique of all, feats of comedic clairvoyance. In fact, he's declared himself "the world's only psychic comedian," and he backs up his claims in his eccentric performance.
The highlight of the show is when Burke "channels the spirits" and begins to take "psychic readings" from the audience... which he mines for some outrageous and impromptu crowd work comedy.
Burke also displays plenty of verbal wit, making sharply observed jokes about male prostitutes, Elvis impersonators and self-deprecating barbs about his own age and girth.
Burke was supposed to fill in for another comic at Fitzgeralds for just one night back in 2008, but his quick witted style and ability to improvise were such a hit that the hotel gave him a permanent nightly spot... and he's been slaying audiences every night since then.
The hard-working comic performs "Defending the Caveman" every night all the way on the South side of The Strip at Harrah's, then bolts Downtown before the audience is done applauding... which explains the real reason for the show's odd start time. Burke's sharp mind and impromptu style have earned him his two hit shows and made him a one man Vegas institution.
