Criss Angel Believe, the Mindfreak illusionist’s mysterious and atmospheric collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, is a smash hit that’s been running at The Luxor for more than five years. But when Angel suffered an injury while performing one of his more extreme stunts in New York City’s Times Square and was forced to undergo intensive shoulder surgery, he knew it would be a few months before he was recovered and able to perform all of the amazing illusions in the popular show. Instead of resting easy and enjoying the time off to recuperate, the hard-working star recruited a group of his favorite magicians and put together MAGICjam to fill in for Believe during its hiatus.
Angel will host the show, but give over most of the stage time over to some of the most talented magicians on the planet, all of whom excel in different disciplines of the magic arts. The cast of Angel’s hit SpikeTV show (also titled Criss Angel Believe) will take the stage, including his magical “intern” Krystina Lambert, mind-bending mentalist Banacheck, and hilarious comedic magician Nathan Burton (who headlines his own hit show at The Saxe Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops).
The jam-packed production will also feature magic from Armando Vera, who has been described as “the world’s best close up artist,” the hilarious Russ Merlin, and veteran stage magicians Jason Byrne and Tony Clark (both of whom are well-known to Las Vegas audiences). Angel hand-picked the illusionists starring in the show and helped them select the best 10 to 15 minutes of material from all of their full length acts to create a stacked night of magic where almost ever moment is a highlight. To end each performance, Angel himself will perform a few signature illusions… because while he can’t perform his full Believeshow, there’s no way Criss Angel could sit on his laurels and not get in on the fun while other master magicians are onstage showing off their amazing talents.
MAGICjam will run at The Luxor until April, when Angel will be fully recovered and ready to unveil a new version of Believe with brand new illusions, including a new levitation set-piece he’s been preparing for more than three years. When Believe reopens, Angel plans to send the amazing illusionists in MAGICjam on a North American tour, because he’s that confident in the show. Until then, Las Vegas audiences can marvel at the jam-packed magic compilation curated by Criss Angel.
